Book Japanese Manicure
A Japanese manicure uses polishing paste and powder to bring out the natural shine of your nails. Instead of applying clear polish or gel, your technician works directly on the nail surface with a soft buffer.
At M. STUDIO, the service includes dry cuticle preparation and nail shaping before the polishing treatment. The finished nails have a smooth surface and a subtle shine, without colored polish or a gel top coat.
We check your natural nails, adjust the length and shape, and prepare the cuticle area. This appointment is for natural nails and cannot be combined with gel removal.
A small amount of nail paste is worked across the natural nail with a soft buffer. The technique and pressure depend on the nail's condition.
Fine polishing powder is applied to complete the shine. No UV or LED lamp is needed.
We check the surface, edges and cuticle area before finishing the appointment.
A traditional Japanese manicure uses paste and powder to polish bare nails. Japanese gel manicure is a different service that uses gel products cured under a UV or LED lamp.
If you want colored gel, book a Gel Manicure rather than the no-gel Japanese manicure.
Japanese manicure focuses on the finish of the natural nail. Russian manicure refers to detailed dry nail and cuticle preparation, often performed with an e-file.
The techniques can be used together. At M. STUDIO, dry preparation is part of the Japanese manicure appointment before the paste-and-powder treatment.
The shine is usually noticeable for around two weeks, although the exact timing varies. Frequent handwashing, cleaning products and daily use of your hands can make the finish look less glossy sooner.
Unlike gel polish, there is no color layer that chips or needs to be soaked off. The shine simply becomes less noticeable over time.
Do not book Japanese Manicure for the same appointment as gel removal. This service must be performed on natural nails that have not just had gel coating removed.
If the nail plate is very thin, tender or peeling, additional buffing may cause discomfort. Your technician can assess the nails and recommend whether to proceed, adjust the treatment or wait.

Japanese manicure should not be performed over an active nail infection, open cuts, inflamed skin or a painful, significantly damaged nail plate.
If you are unsure whether your nails are ready for buffing, contact M. STUDIO before booking.
Every reusable instrument goes through our 4-stage sterilization cycle and is sealed in a sterile craft bag — opened in front of you before the service begins. Stations are fully reset between guests.
