What Makes a Pedicure “Smart”?
A SMART pedicure includes detailed care of the toenails and the skin on the feet. One of its main features is professional foot filing, used to smooth surface buildup and rough heel areas.
At M.STUDIO, SMART foot care is combined with dry Russian-style nail preparation. We work without soaking the feet first, then finish the appointment with the coating you choose.
The amount of filing depends on the condition of your skin. The goal is to smooth rough areas without removing healthy skin unnecessarily.
How Does a Russian Pedicure Work?
A Russian pedicure uses dry preparation around the toenails and cuticle area, commonly with an electric nail file.
The technician shapes the nails, cleans up the visible cuticle area and works around the sides of the toenails. SMART foot filing is used separately to address rough skin on the heels and soles.
At M.STUDIO, these steps are part of the same pedicure appointment. You do not need to book a separate Russian pedicure and SMART pedicure to receive both types of care.

SMART Pedicure vs Regular Pedicure
A traditional pedicure commonly includes soaking the feet before nail and skin care.
Our SMART pedicure is waterless. The technician can assess the dry skin before using the foot file, while toenail preparation is carried out without soaking.
SMART pedicure describes the foot-care approach. Gel pedicure describes the coating on the toenails. They can be combined, but they do not mean the same thing.
How Long Does a Gel Pedicure Last?
Gel color can remain glossy for several weeks, but there is no fixed wear time for every client.
Toenail growth, footwear, pressure inside shoes, the condition of the nail and everyday activity all influence when a new appointment is needed.
The smoothness of the heels also varies. Rough skin may build up again sooner if you spend long hours standing or regularly experience friction from footwear.
Aftercare
Keep your feet moisturized, wear comfortable shoes and avoid picking at gel polish. Rebook when the toenails need maintenance or rough skin begins to build up again.
